Bekkal Fort | God's Own Country- Kerala's Prestigious Fort


Bekkal Fort is the one of the biggest fort in Kerala. Which is built by Tippu Sultan. During the Perumal Age Bekal was a part of Mahodayapuram. Bekal Fort served as an important military station of King Tipu Sultan when he led the great military expedition to capture Malabar. Which is situated in the north side of kerala in Kasargod district. The fort is spread over 40 acres. Which is built to oppose the attack through the sea. As like another many forts in Kerala, the Baikal fort does not contains any palace, mansion or any other buildings in it. The aim of the Tippu Sultan was to protect the Malabar from sea through attack.

How to reach there ??

  • Nearest towns are Kanhangad - 8 km, Kasargod 18 km, Kannur- 90 km.
[These towns are well connected to nearby cities by bus and train.]
  • Nearest airports
Mangalore International Airport - 60 km.
Karipur International Airport - 180 km.
